AS SSD Benchmark

AS SSD Benchmark is an utility program for SSD performance testing. Despite of the name, the program works perfectly with both solid state and magnetic disks.

The program is based on the tests that allow to assess speed characteristics of disks under different levels of load capacity, like reading, writing, compressing or data copying. Upon that, AS SSD Benchmark shows speed characteristics while working with different file types, for example, ISO images, games and high-quality video, providing users with detailed research results of their SSDs.

Saving the final values, that may show data volume transferring per second or number of the performed input-output operations, can be done with the help of the in-built function of screenshot taking. Even more, the developers made it possible to export the results in the XML file format.

In order to improve accuracy of the performed evaluations, you can choose length of the tested part to run the mentioned tasks on. This procedure allows to make the indexes obtained using the program closer to the real values of the physical device.

The interface is a small window which size is not customizable. Choosing the tests that will be used to examine your SDD is made by putting marks in the checkboxes. The only field (not necessary to fulfil) that requires entering the data using keyboard allows to create notes, for example, for making records about the disks models that will be useful for different observers of computer accessories.

  • Free of charge.
  • User-friendly interface.
  • Tests are performed using different types and volumes of information.
  • Capable of taking screenshots using the in-built function.
  • Capable of exporting the results of the task in the XML file format.
  • Supports HDD.

  • It’s not possible to choose files for the tests.
  • The program’s work is managed by the OS that is installed on the hard drive.

The program works correctly but there are certain delays during the testing process. This is hardly surprising taking into consideration that the tests are performed on the disk where the OS services run. The delay, besides other things, may significantly influence other applications that is clear while using the tested part 10 Gb in size. Possibly, the developers will move the utility to the bootable image that will allow to conduct maximally “pristine” SSD and HDD research.
