Deluge is a light BitTorrent client for desktop. The program is distributed for free under the GNU GPL license and offers all the necessary functions for everyday data exchange in the internet using the peer-to-peer technology.
The work of the client is based on the BitTorrent protocol when the user’s computer (peer) acts in the network as a consumer and a data sender at the same time. Files are downloaded by different parts from different sources. The Deluge client allows to manage the bandwidth, limit the download and upload speeds, the number of active simultaneous downloads and their order of priority. Thus, user can decide at what time of the day the program must use maximum of the available system resources and what the top-priority goals are.
The client’s capabilities can be expanded by various additional third party plugins. As an example, one of them offers a set of tools to manage notifications including email letters when something important happens during the program’s activity.
The interface is presented in the form of desktop, console and browser versions. The appearance of the Desktop UI version resembles other similar BitTorrent clients. The upper part of the main window shows the download categories depending on their status and also the whole list of the torrent files that were added to the program. The lower part contains the tabs with detailed information about the status and content of the download.
