HD Tune is a program to check your hard disk drive health. The program starts under control of the main installed OS and is free for personal use.
The program has the following options: evaluation of speed characteristics and HDD performance, receiving data about format and supported technologies, checking hard disk drive for bad sectors. Besides that, the program allows to arrange continuous monitoring of HDD temperature by displaying its value in the Windows tray.
The interface is rather simple. The main window is small in size and can easily fit even screens with low resolution. Switching between the program tools is done with the help of tabs system. In the drop-down menu you can choose one of the physical hard drives.
HD Tune offers a very small number of additional options. They include: automatic launch of the program when computer starts, choice of temperature measurement unit (Celsius or Fahrenheit) and block size to check hard drive disk using the benchmark test.
The program works correctly and doesn’t glitch but capabilities of HD Tune in the modern competitive market could be better. In general, the program is suitable for quick scan of HDDs to search for bad sectors and to get detailed information about serial number, connection standards and supported functions.
