Messenger for Desktop is a free software designed for the Windows desktop and serves to connect the user with his Facebook friends. This messenger was created with the purpose to provide people with an opportunity to stay in touch with friends using PC without necessity of having smartphone or browser at hand. At the same time, the program is not an official social network add-on.
Due to the special API libraries, that are provided by the Facebook company to third-party developers, Messenger for Desktop gets access to the user account’s content (contacts, messages and notifications) after the authorization procedure. As a result, further conversations can be held using the Messenger for Desktop client and the user doesn’t have to open his page in the browser.
The messenger has all the functions of the official mobile application and allows chatting, creating stickers and making voice and video calls using all the big screen’s space. The program doesn’t slow down the system and its system requirements are not higher than those of open browser tabs.
The interface is almost the same as the Facebook mobile client. The elements layout is rather standard and is similar to other popular programs for online communication. The vertical panel on the left has the contacts list, at the same time the dialog window is shown on the most of the working space. Typing messages, smiles and other special symbols is conducted in the lower part of Messenger for Desktop. Besides that, the program makes it possible to change the color scheme, there are several skins including black and white.
The Messenger for Desktop client works steadily and launches quickly. The autostart function during the system startup allows beginning a dialog with any user from the contact list without manual components loading (including the browser).
